Monday Night Circle
For the last three years 9 ladies gather in the parish house to crochet Prayer Shawls and blankets for the neo natal unit and St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital. These labors of love have now number 204 Prayer Shawls sent to individuals recovering, grieving, or dying to remind them that there are a group of people at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Flatbush who are thinking about them and praying for them. In the last several years, they have also been creating blankets in various sizes for the babies and their families at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt neo-natal unit. The blankets depicted here are among the 139 sent that are used wrap the premature babies and to place over the isolets providing warmth in a sterile hospital unit, privacy for the infants, and a kind reminder to the parents that they are not alone in a very difficult time.
Every blanket goes out to the recipients with the label that reminds them of our love and concern.
The group was begun at the idea of Alice Woods. They meet every Monday evening at 7:00 PM in the parish house. All interested are invited to join in the. Over the years Alice was able to get some sizeable donations of wool from some of the big industrial producers.
Well done ladies!
